Self-funded expeditions.
Each year a group of 30+ chiropractic volunteers visit Siliguri - a city in the foothills of the Himalayas - to provide musculoskeletal health checks, treatment and education to local communities.
Our self-funded volunteers tirelessly and enthusiastically conduct more than 3000 health checks and treatments across the two weeks. Not only do they cover all the costs of their expedition, they also raise funds to support the organisation for the year ahead.
The type of treatment and advice the locals receive is simply not normally available - at best they have extremely limited access to even the most basic health care. And given the intense manual labour the local people undertake, it’s little wonder they are so grateful for the care provided by the volunteers.
During the fortnight of sessions, we encounter some serious cases that require ongoing care. To provide this level of treatment, we have developed key relationships with local hospitals and medical services and are able to provide referrals to these facilities for those in dire need.
